Our Heroes, Our Stories
“Our Heroes, Our Stories” features oral history interviews with Latina/o heroes from across Chicagoland. Each hero was selected by a Latina or Latino state legislator to represent their district. The interviews demonstrate the critical role Latinx heroes have played in enriching communities, building businesses, defending rights, and more in Illinois.

“Our Heroes, Our Stories” was supported by the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation. The project’s videographer was Jesus “Manny” Alvarez. All interviews were edited by HeadTurn Creative and Chicagolandia research assistant Sylvia Gutierrez Scoggin. All oral history interviews were conducted by Dr. Antonio Ramirez, Director of the Chicagolandia Oral History Project.
